I am an audio buff and others have disagreed with my view but I believe that the superiority of the intel mp3 player may well put intel's name in front of that market as a credible high quality player. The audio world will become computer centric. No more amps, preamps, receivers, sound shapers, et al. An intel could end up owning a big piece of that market just the way Sony did and sell a lot of processing power too.

Re: AMD's shipments are FLAT !

Were flat. Q4 was the last quarter for AMD to be battling in the value segment without an integrated chipset. There are now 2 Socket A integrated chipsets shipping with 2 more due mid quarter.

Q1 is when AMD takes off (in sales, I'm not going to try to predict stock price).

With Duron at 900MHZ and Athlons GHZ+ only, AMD will be able to sell what they can make at ASPs as high as they're getting now, perhaps higher. And AMD's costs are dropping.

Intel, on the other hand, is facing what AMD faced after the K6 ran out of steam, and the Athlon (on .25) was too expensive to produce to make it more than a low volume chip.

I'm sure you see the significance of the post I've copied below. It's not just the performance of Athlon and DDR 333, it's performance without a cost penalty, and compliant with existing hardware and software. In H1, that's going to be really important.

Goutama,
Glad to see that you are still around. I was wondering what had happened to you.

Hyundai has a new 512Mb 333Mhz DDR RAM sampling:

Sure would like to see it paired with Palomino with a 166 Mhz DDR fsb.

Pravin.
