If they are a group orgninzed to promote a religoious belief (namely that there is no God), then I think a very good argument could be made that they are indeed religions. I can see it now! The Atheists Yachting Society with their motto "Serving No God Through Hedonism" or maybe "The Bacchus Bar and Grill" where we say "Serve wine and spirits to excess in celebration of Bacchus". Or the Cosmic Force Society where my motto is "Raising Money and Consciousness Since 2001". Of course all my property will be held in the name of the "church". It is best if we didn't try to finance religion. It's not like it really needs the subsidy (other than the one it gets from its God[s]). JMO.
