Dear rich4eagle: I think you might be the only person in the World to call Rumsfeld a "stiff". Even his critics realize his significant abilities and knowledge in his field. You seem to feel there is no danger. Many would disagree. there are nations out there like Iraq, Iran, N. Korea that have leaders who are not as stable as we might like. I personally do not think Russia is a major threat at least at this time, and hopefully China would be sensible BUT ICBM technology is proliferating and any one of those countries probably has gotten hold of it. Besides Nuclear threat there are Biological and Chemical threats which may prove to be even more disatrous in the hands of unstable leaders. Seems to me only prudent to have SOME kind of defense. I DOUBT they are talking anything as broad as a new Star Wars program, but whatever they are talking about dont you think people with far more intelligence then us should be trusted to do the right thing to protect us?
