They feel loved and cherished that their parents can continue to live in the same house for their sake and amicably adjust their lifestyles in order to provide them with guidance and love. I don't want to diminish the value of knowing you are loved by your parents, but that can't fully protect you from the slings and arrows of your schoolmates and the rest of the cruel world. Bill and Hill understood the pressure their daughter would be under as First Daughter and tried in so many ways to shield her. But he/they really flubbed this one. Think about Nixon's kids and what followed them all their lives. What a way to show your love! Karen
