Actually, bland has never managed to realize a dime from his higher education. He originally wanted to be a Liberal Arts professor but gradually came to realize he was neither liberal nor artful enough. Any and all of his business and technical knowledge he has gained on the job. He has taken graduate classes in a variety of disciplines, but only a few token courses in accounting, business, and finance. He found them, without exception, to be crashingly boring. Without fail, he would always turn his attention to more intriguing, but less grindingly practical subjects.
On the other hand, he has found that actually working (as opposed to studying) in a relentlessly practical occupation has provided an extremely healthy and satisfying balance to his otherwise innately poetic and mystical disposition.
