Exactly! The die was cast more than 6 months ago regarding CSCO/JNPR. To believe that 192 is what caused the swing is to miss the point entirely. That was only one of many reasons for JNPR's momentum.

To presume that CSCO's 192 is going to turn the table, is to imply that they control JNPR's destiny. In fact, at several different levels, the opposite is true. There is very, very little (nothing) CSCO can do to stop JNPR.

It seems like only yesterday that JC, analysts and Gary were saying that somehow, JNPR was doing the Gorilla a favor by seeming to be credible. The implication was that CSCO had an end game and could flip a switch at any time to stem the tide. That is not going to happen, IMHO. If $45 mill. did not have their attention, $295 mill. may.

Avici's box is a full rack minimum. But you get a lot more interfaces on one backplane then with the m160.

A CSCO OC192 will for sure put a hit in the JNPR stock price. Just the threat that CSCO is finally getting its sh!t together in the high end space will make a lot of weak hands abandon ship.

Marconi's new high end router could start making some inroads in Europe. Their advantage is that they have the support structure in place.

JNPR for me is a great trader, but the only time I held it overnight was a couple weeks back when It dropped to the low 90's. It is just too pricey right now for anything other then a trade.

Techplayer,

RE: The Avici box is as big as a car

Here are the dimensions to the Avici box...

height: 85.8"
width: 26.0"
depth: 35.5"

I know of no cars that have a width of about 2 feet, do u?
