Even if JDSU/SDLI will be postponed for another 2-3 weeks,
JDSU, as a past of the deal, will get more revenue form NT, more $ for plant what should very beneficial.

After the bell: SSB issued a positive report on Optical Components.

Carrier Commentary Remains Positive From An Optical Components Perspective
Salomon Smith Barney
January 16, 2001

Outlines from the report:

* Numerous themes emerged from our SSB Global Telecom Conference that support a favorable outlook for optical component company fundamentals.
* We have already reviewed some of these themes and they can be found in our note from last Thursday, January 11th.
* As an update, we learned the many carriers intend to spend capital at rates tied to revenue growth. With carriers like BRW and WCG expected to grow long haul revenue between 30%-35% this year, this kind of data as good news.
* We also learned bandwidth demand early in 2001 is exceeding at least one carrier's expectations. Although anecdotal, this is a positive for continued spending on optical systems
* Lastly, we confirmed the new 3,000 km link Broadwing is building is Corning LEAF as well as highlight a couple of other metrics we unearthed from the conference.
