The market is very good at:

1. Going up when most people expect it to go down.
2. Going down when most people expect it to go up.

Has there ever been a time when any company management gave an ironclad guarantee on their forecasts? Is there really any fundamental difference in their probable accuracy this Q than other Q's. IMO, no.

It seems to me that selling now increases the probability of missing the Cu / 300mm capacity build. On the other hand, holding probably isn't going to hurt much more than we've already seen.

The street is assuming that there is a foreseeable end to the "trough".

That's correct...except this is no longer news. As some of us discussed here in early December, there were some quite compelling signs 4+ weeks ago that the bottom was bottomed, the blood had been drawn, and the time to act aggressively was at hand. If investors had acted at that time, a 30-50% return would be the current paper profit in virtually any SEM.

Today's rally is simply a continuation of a pattern established during the weeks after Thanksgiving.
