I guess I have to butt in here. -g-

The VeeDubbs are not imported to Mexico, they are made there under a plan of some sort. They are "new". I suspect it is the only place they are made in the world. And they are as crappy as ever, though better than walking or taking a bus.

As far as cars go, you need to understand that there are some folks that fall in love with a really good one, and will do whatever it takes to keep and maintain it. Not stoopit like your sister's new cars and a tradeoff with her kid's education. I view vehicles in two classes. An art object you can also get around in, and a piece of equipment. My favorite happens to be the first (I think) car to come with dual front airbags. When I hear comments like you may have totaled the car, but you are still alive, I cringe 'cause I'm not exactly sure which is worse.

"It's the same with those people building 9k square foot McMansions around me."

Grace: you wouldn't be from NJ would you?...for some strange reason, I thought that phrase (McMansions) was specific to the area I live in and the phrase is more than apt...loads of folks with 100X200 lot plots but with some 9,000 sq feet of space...one guy in our neighborhood has a 12,000 sq ft house and a backyard that is about 10X10....cracks me up!
