Joe,

<AMD is going to spend a lot on capacity, as well.>

The best thing (for AMD) to come out of the CC and Q4 release, IMO.

Hi Joe, it takes 3B (~AMD's revenue) to build a fab, not $1.5B. Sounds like AMD will be taking on some more debt in the future.

Re: next uptick

I expect AMD to fall further behind in technology, and this, combined with a capacity constrained envirnoment where cash is limited, could be a very, very difficult situation for AMD during the next uptick.

Regards,
Amy J

Joe, re: ratio of AMD's capital expenditures vs. revenue,

So the less AMD earns, the higher your artificial ratio will be, and the better positioned AMD will be on the next uptick, right?

I like to think of it this way: If AMD wants 30% market share, but AMD's share of capital spending will only be 16.7% of the total (between Intel and AMD only), then AMD will really have to bet on wishful thinking to achieve their long-standing goal.
