Looking for advice or help:

My printer (HP LaserJet SeriesII) won't print. Get the same error msg ("There was an error writing to LPT1...)as if the printer isn't turned on.

My question: How can I tell if the driver files are installed? (I'm a novice-- don't know what they are or how to find them.)

Some "facts":

I know the printer and cable work. I'm using them on other computers.

The printer used to print. But not now. I tried reinstalling the driver from the selection the computer provides. I also went through Microsoft Printer Wizard to try to find my problem. Did not help.

I'm figuring that in sharing my printer (physical movement -unplug/move/plug in) with other computers, maybe I damaged the connector (port?) of the problem computer. I'll take the computer into the shop (ask them to try to print something on one of their printers) if I can determine that it's not a driver problem on my part. Does this make sense?
