They're not the same thing at all. Most conservatives and libertarians believe no group is "more equal" than another.

Yeah, you let one gay couple move in, the next thing ya know, there goes the whole neighborhood. I'm especially afraid of recruitment. Perhaps we could have a Just-say-No! to homosexuality program?

I find them very different.

Your citation of fear being causative, is probably true. However, equal protection under the law is one thing but when it comes to other agenda items like:

Telling folks that their kids must read "Heather has two mommies" or say that a private organization like the Boy Scouts must accept a gay leader...

Well folks have the right to chose as to what and when they expose their children. Which is contrary to at least radical gay beliefs. (I'll give benefit of doubt, and assume that the above are not mainstream issues, but I really don't know, how the majority of the gay community views them.)

FTR, I personally dont give a hoot who anybody sleeps with. Just don't force me to pay for the consequences.
