Orders for the second quarter were $4.953 billion, representing a year over year increase of 32 percent.

During the second quarter of fiscal 2001, Sun completed the acquisition of Cobalt Networks, Inc. for $2.061 billion in Sun common stock and stock options. Sun recognized during the second quarter of fiscal 2001 approximately $130 million in accounting charges related to this acquisition or $0.04 per share, on an after tax basis.

Including gains on the sale of equity investments and acquisition related charges, reported net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2001 was $423 million or $0.12 per share, compared with $354 million or $0.10 per share for the same period a year ago.

Considering you have companies like INTC guiding down 15% next Q and blow-ups like HWP and the like, and MSFT warning they will be a little light next quarter, I don't know what else people expect out of this company. 30-35% growth is almost 3 times better than the 10-15% growth you might be lucky to get out of INTC/MSFT, yet SUNW's PE isn't 3 times that of Wintel.

Amazing. SUNW is like the only major tech stock not trading up in after hours. MSFT, EBAY, NT, CMRC etc all flying. What a disappointment! I guess it's no surprise, SUNW has been lagging most everything else out there in the last month anyway. Why shouldn't that trend continue!
