The difference is that he produced a child -- the others didn't. When it's just consensual sex with no child, it's a) easier to deny, b) harder to prove without hard evidence like the semen, otherwise it's he said-she said, but with a child it's DNA tests and bam, that's it, c) more life serious, with a child involved, so high cost in denial, and d) more definitely a public not just private issue, since the child is an obligation of the state and cost to society. So yes, he gets credit for coming clean right away, but his case is substantially different, and would have been virtually impossible to deny long term. He's a smart enough politican to follow the adage, if it's going to come out, get all the bad news out right away in your own words rather than have it dribble out over weeks or months. A good example of political crisis management.
