Another article attempting to instill FUD. Tom Lauria, similar to Paul Sagawa, has had very negative views on NT even before earnings.

Nortel Betting Big on Second-Half Economic Bounceback
thestreet.com

How inappropriate to title it 'betting big'? NT is merely basing its projections on a belief that the economy will pick up in the second half. MSFT is saying the same thing. Everybody is basing their forecast the same way. Which company would want to go out and say that their outlook for the year has been terribly reduced because they foresee recession in the second half of the year?

A company that would be making big bet would be INTC, who announced significant increased in spending. NT is not making big bet. It is merely basing guidance on its forecast for the economy. Obviously, the article is an attempt to instill FUD.

"Nortel "hustled like crazy to get to $10 billion in optical," said Paul Sagawa, an analyst at Bernstein".
