Gina Vener: Regarding the California energy crisis...

You don't think that the fact that California hasn't built a new power plant in the last decade and forced PG&E and
SoCal Edison to sell their electric-power plants might have something to do with this mess, do you??!! LOLOL.

I have never seen quite a collection of gutless politicians as exist in California. After a decade-and-a-half of their holier-than-thou, "not in my back yard" attitude toward anyone who DID want to build a power plant in California, all under the guise of "environmental concerns", there have now awakened to the fact that they do not have anywhere near the power-generating capacity that their rapidly-growing population and high-tech economy demands. The saddest part of this fiasco is that there is no quick fix. It will take YEARS before California is able to build the power plants necessary to alleviate the rolling blackouts. The most frightening aspect of all this is that no one in California has shown any inclination to confront the environmentalists and insist on an organized program to expand power-generating capacity.

It is my fervent hope that if there is a Federal bailout to supply power to California, the rest of the U.S. does not get stuck with the bill for their stupidity. The costs incurred should be borne by the idiots in California who created this mess.
