Hi Rarebird, You've gotten poetic on us <g>: There is no feeling other than one which manifests itself in a person's feeling. Outside of that there is no feeling. Reagan was as cold as ice. He didn't feel for Humanity. Why feel for him? To be sure, there are those who continue to love or feel for a person when that person does not love or feel for them. I'm not one of those people. For me, there is really no love other than one which manifests itself in love. There is no genius other than which is expressed in works of art. Reality alone is what counts for me. What Reagan may have dreamt, expected, and hoped, warrants no more than to define him as a disappointed dream, a miscarried hope, and a vain expectation. In my world, I choose to think and feel. But I also choose what is worthy to think and feel about. I am so happy that the world is not full of Ronald Reagan's. First, I think I should have said "I find your views on Reagan's Alzheimers repugnant" not ahorrent. Why are you of the opinion that Reagan was cold as ice, BTW? To me, he seemed a man very much in love with his wife (who IMO, was much icier than he), was a good lifelong friend to many, and who was an affable, not too bright but well-polished actor suffering from the first subtle symptoms of Alzheimers during his Presidency. I just don't see the same edge to him as you do.
