hey rick

firing up that new box should be fun. what was it that cheeky kid always liked to say? "i love the smell of freshly booted computer in the morning"? <g3>

regarding battery replacement... since dell is not responding to your email, i'd shine that on. but their support site is pretty good. just enter your service tag number and all sorts of machine specific info is at your finger tips. i'm willing to bet that there are knowledge base articles on swapping out your battery. check out their online resources a bit, rick.

smartcomputing site has a great reference series, where this battery article can be found....

smartcomputing.com

beyond that, i have no personal experience changing the battery. here's an interesting fact: "Normally batteries are only drained when the computer’s power is off or if the computer hasn’t been turned on for a long time. So keep in mind the more you use your computer, the longer your battery will last."

hope that helps. it's all i've got right now. <g>

"thanks again to all on this thread for all the feedback and advice"

if i may speak for the thread, you are definitely welcome! your participation here is also appreciated.

good luck. let us know how the battery change goes, please. and how you like w2k!

:)
