Walking to school at 14 a masturbating man asked me directions- I was so startled I gave him directions, while another part of my brain was processing the very bizarre situation. That is truly bizarre. Definitely not your average walk to school. MY view of men and their control over their sexuality is a jaundiced one. </I\i> I believe the vast majority of men would come to your aid in the situations you describe. I would never hire a male babysitter. Should daycare centers be allowed yo apply the same rule?

I hadn't yet read this post when I said I thought you were being facetious about prohibiting males from working with children. You seem to think I've "targeted homosexuals." Do you? I haven't. I believe I have applied precisely the same principles to homosexual as to heterosexual superintendency of young people. If you think otherwise, would you cite the statement that makes you think it? I'd like a chance to retract or explicate, since my views are the same in both cases. Another thought about all this: The culture has changed a lot in the last few years. The erotization of prepubescence is proceeding apace, as is evidenced in advertising and in television programming. We have a new, commercially driven, transgressive culture going on. This might be relevant to what protocols will be considered adequate in guaranteeing the sexual safety of people under the age of consent from those of any sexual orientation who might want to have sex with them.

The really harmful male abusers are secretive men- people think they are great guys! Super neighbors! Such a nice man. I wonder if there is a statistical difference as to how many of these secretive men are single vs. married? My guess from newpaper reports of crime would be singles predominate (but I honestly don't know). And I have to take a J & J bath and get to work.
