Interesting piece of trivia/information regarding energy crisis in California. The local paper today, said a Wind Power Farm in Tehachapi (just North of L.A.), could provide power at a cost of 5.5 cents per Kilowatt hour, but Edison refused to build a connection to the wind farm to use all the power it generated, because they could buy power at 4.0 cents elsewhere. Now they are paying as much as 30 cents a kilowatt hour, to bring it in from out of state. They sound pretty short sighted. The article said Minnesota had been pretty successful using windpower. It sounds like we need more Wind Farms and Ocean Power Farms that utilize tides and wave action to generate power. Economies of scale and better energy technology could really bring the cost down on alternative power sources.
