Hi JL, Well, there's always a problem with paying taxes. None of us like to pay our silent partner any more often or in greater quantity than necessary. :-)

I've found the most painful years are ones similar to Y2K. A big run in the early part of the year generates taxable trades. Then a big drop uses up lots of cash. Then come April 15th, we owe our Uncle his portion of the previous year's gains - even if the rest of the year showed losses.

If we're going to follow any strategy more active than "buy and hold" then there's going to be taxable events. I consider it a cost of doing business and account for it but don't spend much more time thinking about it than that. It does, however, give me something to gripe about! :-) and that's worth something!

Best regards, Tom
