I dont know if depression is right here, at least they would have one if they hadnt the subsidies... Farming in my mind is one of the most beautiful way of making a living but maybe i have it a bit too romantic ... Anyway, if the 24 billion dollar figure is right, then that subsidy allows farmer to sell product below cost and the gub`ment is at it making a mess again of an industry that would just be doing fine without it. In the end , just delaying the problems again. Farming though, like defense is very political, so it is hard to correct misdirected policies... sg
