I think I read something about that recently also. I'm thinking it was in Janet Lowe's Munger biography, but I wasn't able to find it with a quick look. As I recall, the concept was that the partnership never paid taxes out of partnership funds; the tax liability was passed to the partners, who paid it out of other funds. Their other choice was to sell shares to pay the taxes. Either way, it made the partnership's returns look better because, in terms of partnership share price, all profits were reinvested.

Hope this helps some.

If you're thinking about another concept, I'd be interested in hearing more.

Brendan

Quotes? We ain't got to show you no stinking quotes.

Mike, I work in critical care as a Registered Nurse. A pulmonologist and I were getting a laugh out of this situation: When he did not write any new orders and change orders to the nurse's liking, the next shift would frequently call him up to clarify the situation. So, he would write "continue current plan of care" as an order.

About your participation in MSN Strategy Lab...Are you trying to put the readership in a coma? I check it every few days and, man, you are leaving me hanging. Give me some value perspective babe.

And good investing to you! TK

Michael,

We just noticed that you no longer have the "Buffettology" spreadsheet on the Valuestocks.net site. Since I still have it and use it, someone asked me to send them the spreadsheet. Is it OK with you if I either:

- put the spreadsheet on my web site.
- send it to the person who requested it.

If not, would you be willing to post the spreadsheet on some site of yours.

Thanks and best luck in investing

Jurgis

Just dropping in for some help. I am looking for a quote where Buffett makes a comment saying that there is disadvantage in his current vehicle's corporate structure with regards to securities investment, and suggests his old partnership structure was much more advantageous in terms of securities investment. I read this comment somewhere within the last year I think, and I don't believe it was in an annual letter. Ring any bells for anyone here? Thanks in advance.
Best,
Mike
