Keith, Bernie;

Bernie: My wife Nancy is planning on joining me as well as Andy (her dad) and his wife as well (they're coming in on the Cheesehead Special from MKE). So mark down 4. It's my mother-in-law who 'mentioned' last Sunday that we should get serious about booking the trip to save on air fare.

Keith: Why not drive in to Dallas? You and Eve and any of your Redneck buddies could fly in with us. Last year, I flew National (based out of Vegas) and it was pretty cheap (around $350 round trip if memory serves). Although I understand they've since filed CH 11. Too bad Midwest Express doesn't fly from Dallas to Vegas. They are the best in the air IMHO. I any event, I think flights out of Dallas are relatively cheap by comparison to Tulsa for example (I assume that's your other choice vs Memphis).

When you said 'reverse' did you mean that we should tack our meeting on to the end of that week after TMS? I'm not sure that works for us due to our son's school commitments, but I'll check it out.

I took a brief look at the hotel links you listed. FWIW, I've had good experience with Embassy Suites' conference rooms in the past. I like the high speed internet access. That could help some of us maybe with presentations.

Bernie: No one, including myself, could or should be offended by your BTB mantra. Results are what counts. I'm basically even after 15 months of AIM-ing my basket. Compare that to your COMS/PALM example (which I also own), and it's pretty clear why I 'won' the Strewie. Keeping us (newbie or Old Fart) honest from an AIM standpoint serves us all well. One should never argue with success. But we still tinker anyway. My wife says it's a guy thing.

Regards, Steve

Hi Keith,

As I mentioned in our recent discussion, you have our 'vote' for Vegas, count us in.

By the way, if anyone is attending the Money Show next month in Orlando, please let me know. We will be there. Consider the rooms in Vegas cheap as we're paying $243 a night at Disney's Contemporary.

Not to complicate things, but there is the Online Investor Expo. in Vegas November 15-18, 2001. On the outside chance that would be more convienent/conducive/cheaper, perhaps it merits consideration. It would give a lot more time for planning.

Either way you can count on us. I would like to see as many AIMer's as possible attend and whichever achieves that goal would seem best.

I think a well planned out AIM convention this year should include a meeting space for 2 days, Internet/projection (preferably high-speed), and probably invitations to fund the expenses at $50+/- a head. Does that leave enough for donuts and coffee? A lounge in close proximity is also a must.

What would be even more ideal would be a group of rooms in the same hotel as the meeting space corresponding with a known number of attendees for social interaction. Too much to ask?

C'mon, there has to be a professional planning director somewhere in our midst! If not, I suggest a 'ballot' be constructed and posted here listing the preliminary choices for location/time/ideas/attendee confirmation/willingness to chip in.

Comments?

Hi Keith, Good point about Mom's day. Maybe we should plan on everyone gathering on Monday or Tuesday night for our Social Hour and then either during or after the Money Show have our meetings.

Best regards, Tom
