When the appeals are factored in Capital punishment is more expensive, according to some figures I saw. Will try to dig them up for you.

It is difficult to argue for capital punishment on the basis of this link which seems a reasoned one. My personal choice would be exile to arable (communal) land with a secure fence. No support; No punishment. Use the money to keep innocent children, etc. from being executed by starvation and disease, and other niceties of life. Let them grow up to love and live well. Let these people have the oportunity to live with the kind of values they believe in. Give them a free knife as they pass through the gate. How much more humane can it get? No punishment, good land--freedom. And sleep tight. cpa.ca

Thanks for your reply, it was indeed very well presented...<g> you make good sense in much of what you say... I think far too much is being spent on the appeal process for the worst of criminals, surely that same revenue can be spent on feeding, clothing, and housing hungry families and the innocent homeless... my initial post was referring to a confessed cop killer who was observed in the act by several reliable witnesses, I think life in prison for these types is wasteful..... GZ
