HI Bernie, I didn't mean to say that there is anything in Mr. L's book that can not be done in Newport. What I meant to say was that what entries go into what fields is not sufficiently explained in Newport's help . For example, you might remember I was inquiring how to account for dividends in Newport. I wasn't sure what menu choices to make. I could do it correctly or incorrectly. Newport would have accepted my choice. The Newport instructions were not clear enough for me, so I posted a question and Tom and Keith and maybe you ( I don't remember) were kind enough to explain. It's the help explanations that I find all three programs, to various degrees, are deficient.

BTW, I agree with you that it is harder to learn AIM with AI & PCA than Newport. On the other hand they allow daily updates (maybe not a benefit), long term simulation, multiple portfolios, and in the case of the new PCA, optimization. Newport is very cumbersome in having to set the computer clock back before you do a full install each time you want to do a simulation. My suggestion, which I have not followed, to better learn AIM is to set up a spreadsheet on paper and run the program that way until one understands the nuances of the interactions. Anyway that's my two cents.
