Dan and others, way off topic! re: power plants,

What are the benefits and risks of solar plants? Seems like even a few more solar power plants in California would be better than no new plants at all, right?

Do you live downwind from California? If so, you might not want to have nuclear power plants sitting on top of active seismic zones.

BTW: Not many people know about the desperate efforts in Los Alamos this summer to build a retaining wall in Pajarito Canyon. Had a big rain come (which usually happens fairly often in July), substantial quantities of nuclear waste would have washed into the Rio Grande upstream from Albuquerque.

That would have been an even bigger Los Alamos story than espionage, forest fires, garbage dumps, Internet hacking, etc.....
