Petz, I think your ad idea wouldn't be any better than the jumbled and confusing "bullet train" ad that AMD had back in late 1999 and early 2000.

But hey, compared to those curious Blue Men working for Intel marketing, anything would be an improvement ...

Petz,

RE: galley ship ad idea.

It's a wrap! Get a director and some actors and get it done. Very creative. I have my doubts about the budget though (Costner's "Water World" comes to mind <g>), especially given that the marketing department in question tends to spend less (or none?) rather than more.

Regardless of whether they go with your good idea, or something else, the point is: do SOMETHING!

JJ

P.S. Speaking of doing something, has anyone seen/heard any AMD ads (TV/radio/magazine/newspaper/whatever) lately? Or even just advertised PCs for sale with an AMD processor? I haven't really been watching, but it seems like there's been a reduction rather than an increase.

I think Intel may be looking for another blue guy!
"Intel is apparently planning a media blitz for the P4"

LOL - Your commercial sounds plausible. I like the visual image it portrayed. But please, can we use a different announcer than the Athlon/PIII train wreck? That guy was annoying.

Petz, Re: Here's another marketing idea I dreamt up.

Wow, great idea! You should really mail some of your ideas to AMD marketing (I also remember some from last year). Since you have already posted them here why not sending a CC to AMD marketing? Probably they'll just ignore it but why not give it a try? And IIRC Toni said that AMD planned a new media campaign this year. We really need an intelligent TV campaign now.

Re:WTH is a crew boat called, anyway?

John,

A scull.

1 a : an oar used at the stern of a boat to propel it forward with a
thwartwise motion b : either of a pair of oars usually less than 10 feet
(3 meters) in length and operated by one person
2 : a racing shell propelled by one or two persons using sculls

BTW another great idea that will never see the light of day.
