WE GOTTA GET VOUCHERS!

The public school system needs all the competition it can stand. I would like a system where the state collects education funds, divides it up equally among all the students, and issues vouchers for the full amount (not half or some other fractional amount) to the parents to fund education and only education.

These vouchers could be used for any full-time school, religious or otherwise. I am not religious and generally strongly support separation of church and state, but this problem has gotten so bad and has gone on for so long that I will compromise.

Under a full-voucher system, schools will sprout up every to get those vouchers. Some will be good, some bad. Most parents will have the sense to put their children into the best available schools. Some will put their kids into touchy-feely-self-esteem pigstys. Will those be any worse than the worst public schools now? I doubt it.
