what I have been seeing is 3-10 semi-trailers with big diesel generators inside sitting at sub-stations

Now THAT'S more attractive (and quieter, too). LOL!

I agree with you about the summer. Demand for natgas will subside in the spring but with the energy crisis (NOT just in CA, either) there is heightened interest in energy stocks, which I think will continue as we feel the impact of the crisis. The Bush administration's role is yet to be seen. I have EEE, EEX and PYR at the moment.

EDIT: also my little GTL ratdog, RTK.

I believe I read that gas turbines are also being employed in backup power applications. They come up to power very quickly and maybe use less space. Higher investment and disposing of waste heat may be problems. GE & UTX to benefit?

Our firm just helped out a Fortune 100 manufacturing facility by cleaning their diesel storage tank (3000 bbl capacity) for switching over to diesel from natural gas. They hadn't used the tank in over 25 years. I am in Northern Ohio, and some very big plants are getting rationed.

William:

I' ve always been a fan of those Dylithium Crystals of Star Trek fame... : >

We need a more compact and safe source of energy... Theoretically Cold Fusion offers promise... Unfortunately, it takes years from lab to market... Maybe I'll buy one of those pocket accordion fans... : >
