Mary, >In the mean time, we should take our time and select a successor to Craig Barrett. The successor has to come from the outside because there is no one in house that can take Intel to the next level.

At the 1999 stockholders meeting, Andy introduced Craig as the new CEO, and mentioned that there had been three so far, each for about 10 years. Hoped Craig would be there for the same. Going outside would be a first for Intel. I personally doubt it will happen any time soon, but I am certainly remote from any inside knowlege. If "all that other stuff" besides IA ever gets profitable, Barrett would look great.

Hi Mary, RE: "In the mean time, we should take our time and select a successor to Craig Barrett"

Geez Mary, just because he's not on top of one particular market niche, doesn't mean the fella gets the boot. Didn't you just suggest he should get a raise?

Btw, the Intel PC video camera seems good.

Regards,
Amy J
