Every place except a slum is a "bitch on the poor". Anyplace decent requires money. That's what makes it decent. Do you think all of America should become a slum? Oh, and capitalism has certainly created a higher percentage of non-poor people than socialism or communism, right?

Texas is just fine if you can afford it, as is California or Hawaii for that matter. It's a bitch on the poor though. I am a full time musician here in Texas. I supplement my income doing contract computer work. By some definitions I am 'poor'. I feel rich as hell really... but I just don't make a lot of money. But the thing is, I accept my position in life as one I have made. At least to a certain extent. And I certainly can CHANGE my conditions if I ever want to. The statement: Texas is just fine if you can afford it is a silly one. There are places in Texas that you can live as cheaply as any other place in the country. And what are we affording? Shelter, food, clothing, transportation? Get a grip man... It might be a bitch to be poor... but that isn't the fault of a state. As a matter of fact name another country this size and this diverse with this much wealth. Even the 'poor' (like me) live like kings here in Texas.
