Anyplace decent requires money.
Didn't used to be so expensive here. Many friends have taken off for Corpus Christi, Brownsville, Louisiana, and other locals where it is still affordable. These are not slums, they are just currently out of favor with the go-go crowd.

I would say the biggest problem with cities like Austin is the size. That's where some growth restrictions would be usefull. After a metropolitan area gets to 400,000 or half million people they should build another city and not just keep tacking on buildings into every open spot. It's all supply and demand. Of course the easy money is in making just one more development, so it requires public intervention to get the cooperation necessary.

I don't see it happening in this atmosphere so I go to plan B, which is to make enough money to afford to live where I used to be able to live for a lot less.
