If some of the bills I suggested are too socialist for you, that's fine; you have every right to your opinion. You just must realize that your opinion is far to the right of center; most Americans (according to polls) favor these bills. But they all have large money interests opposing them, so they're not going to happen in a Bush administration, though I hope McCain can make an exception of campaign finance reform.

As for tort reform, I favor reform that will discourage frivolous suits, such as the English rule (loser pays court costs). The trial lawyers' lobby will never permit it. The Republicans tend to favor tort reform that caps settlements, so that a judge or jury could not impose a punitive fine on a corporation even if it was proved in court that they willfully sold a product they knew to be harmful or deadly and had tried to suppress the evidence. I don't favor that kind of tort reform.
