Elmer,

I swear he knows about my situation so he is doing it just to teach me a lesson....DIVERSIFY....

He could have just sent me an e-mail

I really hope he is more in touch with the computing industry than he is with financial markets. This action is not exactly confidence inspiring.

later,

Elmer, HTH,

you guys will never be happy when Craig, or any Intel exec, sells stock, will you?

when the stock is high, somebody complains that the option exercises are a signal of over-value.

when the stock is low, somebody complains that its unsupportive of the stock for the exec to sell.

the fact remains that Craig has already held these options for almost ten years and they are set to expire if he doesn't exercise before April. His net worth is already heavily over-weighted in Intel (there are many more options behind these) and in order to make you guys happy, he would have to cough up several million dollars in cash to cover the taxes that would become due upon exercise.

not to mention that a guy like Craig gets very few, short windows during the year in which he can legally exercise.

I think Craig would say that the way to get the stock up is for Intel to start executing crisply and deliver great products - the investment community will little note nor care about his option exercises over time.

just my opinion.

jh

Ref < Craig Barret.....If I were him I'd exercise them and just write CCs. What does he need another few million for anyway >

Elmer for mast major companies like Intel, the management is NOT allowed to sell the stock short NOR deal with any other derivatives like puts calls etc.

If this option is expiring in a few months, Craig's action is appropriate.

Do we know how much of the expiring option is being sold. Enough to cover the tax consequences of the exercise, or more than that ? [ We can safely assume that he is in the max state and federal tax brackets ].
