I designed and built the house about 20 years ago ...
planned ahead ....
poured the slab,
then put copper tubing (4000 lin ft) down with a loop for each room ...
kinda like the wiring in an electric blanket configuration ....
then poured a slab on top of that .....with wiring into each room for a thermostat ...

never had a NG bill over $150 in the 20 years .....

NOW ...
I'll be checking out solar panels and other methods to provide heat to hook up the barebones hydronics system ....

water bill runs $150 summer ... $65 last month ....

danged if I'm not gonna have to trade harder ..... LOL

Just to give you Florida Bashers some thoughts...<gg>
4000 square foot house Florida Power and Light Bill (Electric inclduing A/C) about $320 a month..
garbage $62 a month twice a week pickup..
Water and Sewer $92 a month..I must have a leak someplace used to be about $80..
Heat??? Whats that
Grass cutting and hedge trimming for an acre...$220 a month
Fertilization and lawn spraying $90 a month.
StaTe Income Tax whats that??
Property taxes on a $400K house about $6500 a year..
Sunshine and beautiful weather....$$$000000
Guess we don't have it to bad..<gg>
