AMD is abandoning their EV6 bus for their next generation Hamsters.

I think this has been the plan for some time.

As far as EV6 being dead, AMD will sell several tens of millions more chips with that bus, and maybe even some Dual CPU versions before it is retired.

When AMD is disappointed by a technology, they move on to a better one. It's a concept that seems to elude Intel.

I'll grant you that EV6 has been a disappointment, now you tell my why Intel is still clinging to Merced and Rambus.
