MB, Do we have inflation or we don't? Greenspam says there is no inflation.
I've been in States for only a handful years, so I assume I don't know jack about inflation.
When I asked people who were born and lived here for last 50 years they say
that there is no inflation. They say that inflation is when you go to a supermarket and you see that prices are up since your last visit.

Michael,

Will you comment on options strategies and capital gains treatment? Do you try to manage transaction costs and short term capital gains, or is this not really a concern?

Also, do you tend to trade equities as readily as you would options. How do you feel about buy and hold approach and does it have a place in your strategies? Thanks.

Shane

Michael,

Do you have an opinion on HLTH (Healtheon WebMD) for a put? They lost $786 million last quarter on $151 in somewhat questionable revs (shared internet advertising is a component) and have a mkt cap of about $3.4 million. Loss only seem to be accelerating and revs aren't. At the rate they're going they'll have losses greater than their mkt cap within a year.

What holds a stock like this up, and does it have characteristics you'd look for in a put?

Shane

New Corporate Perk: If the Stock Falls, Cancel Purchases

By FLOYD NORRIS

Did you make the mistake of buying a highflying stock last spring, one whose price collapsed by the end of the year? Wouldn't you like to cancel the purchase, to get your money back and forget the whole thing?

You can't cancel the trade, of course. But there is a fair chance that the chief executive or other top officer of that company was allowed to cancel his or her own purchases of company stock. The "rescission" of exercised stock options is the latest fad in corporate executive suites.
