OT- Ahh- the power of the internet. Thanks

The discussion regarding the relative benefits of Steel studs vs Wood, and potential implications of a continuing energy crisis hold more interest for me. Maybe because I feel that's still somewhat in our sphere of influence.

I said once that as a race, we must expand into space to ensure the survival of our species. I don't see how we could do this without dragging along some of these nasty virii and proteins that have gained enough notoriety to attract public attention.

BTW- a variation on the icenine concept could be the oil eating bacteria proposed to manage oil spills. I'd conceived of a novel based on these, used by terrorists to destroy a nations oil supply. My aunt told me that they were effectively neutered, which would prevent them from replicating and consuming the worlds oil based energy supply.

However, in the antibiotic resistant research arena, they've discovered that bacteria can exchange portions of DNA/RNA, in effect learning antibiotic resistance from one another. So it's quite possible that our oil spill solution could learn sex from another bacteria, and truly create a new problem.
