PMCS----I hope we get numerous downgrades on PMCS, CSCO, VTSS, AMCC etc.. tomorrow to signal the last drop in the sectors.
There won't be any more surprises after that--when Cisco reports.

I am hoping these stocks become similiar to the PC and semiconductor stocks that stop going down on downgrades.

can someone explain to an uninformed person like myself the difference between the customers of a pmcs and the customers of a jdsu, and why one would see such a slowdown, while the other doesn't.

Pat, PMCS cites NT, CSCO, JNPR, Lucent as all slowing orders but the question is .....Is PMCS's data a lagging or leading indicator?
I believe it is lagging and reflects what NT, CSCO went through in October to December. Cisco must have told PMCS don't ship to us until we are ready. What happens...PMCS gets stuck with the inventory.

I was surprised by JNPR being on the list and that is what makes me think there is more than inventory issue. Could there be serious competitive pressures being faced by PMCS. I could have bought the NT, CSCO slowdown case they presented but not JNPR--which just increased guidance for this year. That makes me think it is more than inventory. The fact that Cisco and others can cancel the order puts PMCS in a tough spot especially if there are others have alternate suppliers. The mentioned how these customers could just cancel the orders altogether----i guess the big companies can dictate what the smaller companies like PMCS must do.

Hard to believe no one gets it yet: The paradigm is shifting to optical not only for telecom/internet but for traditional networks as well. Technologies are becoming obsolete faster than an analyst can say "downgrade!"

<PMC-Sierra, which counts No. 1 computer networking equipment maker Cisco Systems Inc. as its largest
customer, also said it expected eight of its 10 largest customers will spend less on PMC-Sierra products in
the first quarter than they did in the fourth quarter.>
