This is ridiculous. Let them cut the threads and cut their own content.

The TOU are clear that you can't libel people, or threaten them- whatever is necessary is in the TOU.

I saw Bob's response. I took it to mean that what you said is quite correct.

3. No obscenity or obscene discussions.

I would agree to 1 & 2 readily, but 3 is very subjective.

Undoubtedly. Even the USSC only knows it when it sees it. But I think it's one of tghe things the set off the firestorm today, and something that had best be policed by thread moderators on the moderated threads and by everyone in BR.

And expecting EVERYONE to be civil all the time is unrealistic. That's not true on the stock threads, why should it be here? I think SI is just going to have to put up with a certain amount of noise in the Coffeeshop.

No threats of violence, or implied threats, and the other stuff suggested. Seems like common sense... I can take pretty much anything else. Problem is that one can make subtle implications. I don't like that either, but would probably recommend we individually contact people about this PM and not in a public free-for-all if it is questionable. Why on earth would people run to daddy when they got their nose broken in a "Boxing Ring". Good grief.
