Ramsey,

<< I guess the question is at what point would Nokia require a 3G license? >>

PDQ I would think.

<< Can Nokia offer a 1x capable handset without expanding their current 2G license? >>

I don't see how ... although we have heard some rumbling out of Nokia that they are or could be covered by their 2G license. I don't buy that, but somehow the TI deal might play in this.

<< What could Nokia be selling to VZ later half of this year, when 1x compatible would be a must? >>

I'm not sure 1x will be a must at Verizon. Heck, they are still carrying 5 AMPS models <sigh>, but it would seem to me that if Nokia wants to compete in CDMA, which is their announced intent, they have got to get to 1x quickly. Hopefully MY carrier will be 100% 1x before long. Great part of Verizon is they have lots of AMPS customers to convert to CDMA, which bodes well for CDMA sub growth in US. Verizons net adds do NOT tell the whole story. For every net add they are probably converting one AMPS customer to CDMA.

I have tried to get at the Verizon CDMA v. AMPS split, without success. Their SEC filings don't show that. I am guessing they still are at least one third AMPS.
