To make this more neutral, I'm planning to take LWP off this title and edit the header to link to both threads, and include terms when we reach something near consensus.

Personally, I don't like the name either. During PMs between JLA and I before the thread was created, I proposed it be called "The Conservative Boardroom." I still think something like that would be better. Less inflamatary.

No, I have too much of a sense of humor of it all to get involved in nit-picking titles. It was tongue in cheek. I recognize that. A bit of reactionary humor.

I like your name better, if one is to be a serious discusser of events. I can do that in the right environment. Most people are just keyed way too tight with their politics. I don't think people can be shrink-wrapped and labeled very well. I know I can't. I bet you can't. I can see you have a gentle sense of humor. I like that when people introduce themselves. There is ALWAYS time for acerbic wit, but that should always come after a couple of get-acquainted posts.

I don't imagine myself at war with anyone here.

Do you understand why it is titled "Right Wing Extremist Thread". It's because, according to some liberals, if one conservative AT ALL, one is a Right Wing Extremist.

That one definitely cuts both ways. I can't count the number of types I've been branded a raving demolib Klintonista for espousing essentially libertarian positions.

Just the other day I was accused of being a Democrat, though I have never in my life considered joining any political party.

In some circles on SI, failure to worship at the shrine of St. Ronnie is considered presumptive evidence of being at least a tree-hugging liberal, more likely an outright socialist.

As I've said before, the whole idea of attacking, generalizing about, or attempting to argue with "liberals" or "conservatives" as a group is pretty futile, since no consensus definition exists for either term, and many people who hold liberal opinions on one issue hold conservative opinions on others. Discussing issues is a good deal more rewarding and a great deal less likely to offend than attacking either individuals or undefined groups.
