Anyone use eTrends?
I am having a problem when my computer shuts down and I know exactly what the cause is. It is my eTrends software. Ever since they changed their format my computer seems to be non-compatible. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, defrag, disabling the software when exiting, disabling other softwares, etc.
If anyone isn't familiar with them they are a data collection company - kind of like the Neilson ratings for the computer. I have been using them for years (originally PC Ratings). Reason to use them: In exchange for your participation you get 24/7 free technical support. I have found their tech support better than my computer co's tech support, and also much more available.
My question is this. Could I be doing any damage to my computer by the fact that it doesn't shut down properly? I get messages such as "a fatal error has occurred" and you have to hit any key in order for it to continue to shut down, or "this program has performed an illegal operation" message (but when I try to close, Windows just freezes and I have to reset).
Any suggestions other than uninstalling the software and not using it (since this seems to be the only solution at this time).
By the way, I have spoken to eTrends regarding this and they claim that there are a few customers who are having conflicts but most of their customers aren't so at this time they have no solution.
Thanks.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for: an "optical wheel mouse."

Best wishes,
