Hi Bob, I think you'll find many here who will agree that undoing ST Trading propaganda from their investing M.O. was probably their most difficult task. Almost all strategies based upon technical analysis are contrary to AIM.

As part of the problem almost all ST strategies want to ignore the underlying security's fundamentals. For AIM to work, it needs time. For us to be comfortable with the investments we make for long time periods, the fundamentals should be very good!

So, again, AIM is contrary.

The beauty of AIM is that it frees our time to be better spent examining broad economic trends, industries that will participate and the companies within those industries which we may want to AIM. The AIM Users are partially populated by burned out day traders that decided to "get a life."

I think, in time, those old tendencies from your TA training will start to fade as you see the LIFO gains piling up. :-)

Best regards, Tom

Hi,
You sure are catching on. It will take a while to really catch on to what AIM is doing for you.
Something to be on the watch for is the temptation to thing that you can outsmart the market and AIM as well. Many, come up with anecdotal examples of how to beat AIM when a stock or fund performs in a certain way.
One of the hardest things you will have to do is ignore these cases and stick to AIM. IMO the longer you stick with the plan before you start modifying it, the less likely you will be to mess with it.
Not too many of us were prepared for a drop of 80% with UOPIX. As a result we all ran out of cash way too soon. If you are just starting with it now, you may find yourself in a position where you feel you have too much cash. Then you will want to ignore AIM's sell advice.
I will advise you now to print this post and stick it on the wall next to your PC. Look at it about once a month. Eventually you will understand why I am advising you to do this.
