I did think that was funny when I saw it in the paper. Apparently it's aimed at immigrants who have a gazillion people living in the same apartment or house - only because they park their cars all up and down the street and otherwise drag down property values. This place is very big on property values. I think I told you about the client I represented who was accused of zoning violations for having too many people in his house - the county said he was renting out rooms - there were taxis parked up and down the street - he said he just had family members staying with him when they came over from Afghanistan to visit - it took the county years to shut him down. I accompanied the county on two home inspections - no violations - and I believed him when he said the neighbors were just prejudiced against him because he was Middle Eastern. When we went to trial, the county brought in surveillance photos of him and his helpers hauling furniture, bed, and stoves out of the house before inspection and bringing them back in after we had all left! Only time in my life I ever felt like crawling under the table in court! Luckily, the judge knew me and liked me - and told the client that he had fooled a lot of people but it was over. I quit representing the guy and he was pro se for at least two years of more fighting - the judge retired, he got another judge, who died, and now he has a third judge - actually I don' t know how the story ends because I quit checking the court files - he may be fighting on. Those Afghanistanis are tough.
