Hi e,

People who think that women will actually have an abortion in order to sell the tissues of the fetus's for research are sick and miss-informed. Pregnancy is a complex biological phenomena that brings many changes to a woman's body........changes that are emotional as well as physical. The hormones that a woman's body secretes due to pregnancy can cause tremendous mood swings with peaks and valleys. Most woman agonize over the decision "for or against" an abortion. A couple of bucks isn't going to sway most women to sell the tissues.

There are large libraries of mammalian cell cultures all over the world. Scientists don't use whole body parts for research.........instead they use single cells that they can grow in their laboratories. Even if Bush stopped the collection of new tissues there are cells already collected that are being propagated worldwide. The technology is being perfected still, but it is quite easy to keep cells alive and in great health.

My thoughts are that Bush is making "much to do about nothing" to appease his pre-life financial backers. He would have to totally outlaw research with human fetal stem
cells in order to truly affect his part of research. The "cat is so far out of the bag I think he won't be able to get it back in".
