Thanks, Jon. I will try the memory test. I got my memory from crucial.com but it is not ECC.

Jon,

Because I am having so much trouble with W2K, I have setup a Win98 installation on my other disk and re-installed all my trading software there.
Now, when shutting down I am getting the following error:

DISK WRITE ERROR
UNABLE TO WRITE TO DISK IN DRIVE C.

This is incredible, my computer was working flawlessly for months. Is it possible I have some nasty virus that I cannot detect? I am about two seconds away from buying another computer. I have been working on this thing since Wednesday and I can't concentrate on trading if I am spending all my time trying to fix this.

Thanks.

Thanks for the memtest Jon and this brings up an interesting point. As you see, it takes hours to run an exhustive test of memory. As the manufacturer has only seconds to test a chip in production, one has to wonder just how well memory is tested in the first place.
