Johannes--Okay, you take duress into account--I have no problem with that, courts take all sorts of factors into account when they render sentencing. But what if there is little or no duress--and you would admit, of course, that measuring duress is difficult (what murderer does not have an excuse?--"my daddy left me when I was but a boy!")--then what do you do, is it prison time?

And, second abortions would be dealt with severely, and third abortions even MORE severely, right?

You wrote: "We know exactly why abortion is and will be legal in America," but you don't state why it is. Well, here's the dirty little secret: because the Republican Party will give folks like you lip service about it--they'll mess around the margins with fetal tissue issues, or make a big deal about "partial-birth" abortions (which number in the hundreds, but they will NEVER do anything about abortion-on-demand, which numbers in the millions, as you correctly note.

I live in Washington, DC, and I happened to be walking the other day in the general direction of marchers--I wanted to tell them that they were wasting their time (like most marchers do, irrespective of the cause, imo), that until they turned their anger on the Republican establishment, abortion will ALWAYS be legal, that they were getting manipulated by their leaders who have sold them out so they can go to WH dinners, get special treatment, etc. When the Right to Life Committee decides to give George Bush hell for not advocating the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, or for not using an abortion litmus test on his SC nominees, THAT'S when "progress" will be made to implement your values. But don't hold yer breath, big guy. It ain't happenin' for a LONG, LONG time...
