re: California's energy crisis.

They brought it on themselves. They do not permit coal burning plants in CA. Coal plants account for 1/2 of the
US's electricty. But it is beneach CA to allow them in their state. They didn't build plants in the past 10 years while their demand nearly doubled. Bush doesn't owe CA any free handouts. I feel sorry for them, but you can't get around the supply/demand equation. They need to build plants and pay the market rate for electricity like everyone else does. The tree huggers will ruin CA before it is all said and done.

You're way out of line...this California energy crisis started on Clinton's watch, and he chose to ignore it completely.

He never brought it up! So don't blame Bush for what Clinton was afraid to handle as a hot potato!

It's interesting how critical Democrats are toward Bush in only the first few days of his Presidency. Especially interesting because many of the same people have complained on this thread over and over about excessive Clinton bashing.

Hasn't California been predominately controlled by Democrats for over a decade? And don't they bear any responsibility for the energy crisis which inflicts their state?

Dear Pat: That is ABSURB. Bush has done about all he can do and in fact has offered to attempt to lower the emissions standards ONLY for Calif. utilities in an effort to allow them to produce more electricity. What else would you have him do? Require states that HAVE done things correctly GIVE the power to Calif and the expense of THEIR CITIZENS? This was a big boo boo regardless of WHO is to blame and the ONLY way out is for Calif. to correct the mistake. It is NOT going to happen overnight, in the meanwhile Calif. can expect to pay the going rate for power same as everyone else. JDN
